We tried to read the fee pages of 84 journals of IOP Publishing (AAS titles), Medical Journals Sweden, PAGEPress, Ubiquity Press, Termedia and Sciendo: 0 say on their own pages that authors pay nothing; 83 charge authors or sell optional open access; for 1 we found no clear statement. Flat amounts: 53 journals from 120 to 2,400 EUR; 20 journals from 385 to 2,017 GBP; 2 journals from 1,800 to 2,108 USD.

How to read this page

This is a selection, not a census. We took active DOAJ-listed journals of these publishers that were not yet in our main price list and read each journal’s own fee page, or the publisher’s page that lists it. DOAJ amounts were used only as leads, never as prices. The page address is recorded for every row, and rows were read on 28 October 2026.

Caveat. These readings were made with automated page reading and have not yet been double-checked by hand; quotations are therefore not published here. A journal is listed as charging nothing only where its own page says so. Where we found no statement, or the page could not be read, it is listed as unclear, not as free. Amounts are list prices in the currency the journal states, before tax, waivers and institutional agreements.

What the examples show

83 of the 84 journals charge authors or sell optional open access, 0 say they charge nothing and 1 are unclear.

Where the page figure differs from what DOAJ lists, the page figure is shown: for several journals DOAJ still carries an older rate. Some amounts are tiered by article size or author group (the AAS journals charge by the length and content of the paper) and are marked as such; a few pages do not name the currency or say whether tax is included, and we have left that unstated rather than guessed. Journals whose fee page could not be read, and publishers that block automated reading, are not shown.
