We tried to read the fee pages of 142 journals from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and Tajikistan: 56 say on their own pages that authors pay nothing; 47 charge authors or sell optional open access; for 39 we found no clear statement. Flat amounts: 29 journals from 5,000 to 150,000 KZT; 3 journals from 250 to 500 USD; 2 journals from 400,000 to 450,000 UZS.

How to read this page

This is a selection, not a census. It covers journals published in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and Tajikistan. DOAJ lists none for Uzbekistan, so those journals were found on institutional platforms and by search. Where DOAJ lists journals we used them; others were added from university and academy sites. The page address is recorded for every row, and rows were read on 21 October 2026.

Caveat. These readings were made with automated page reading and have not yet been double-checked by hand; quotations are therefore not published here. A journal is listed as charging nothing only where its own page says so. Where we found no statement, or the page could not be read, it is listed as unclear, not as free. Amounts are list prices in the currency the journal states, before tax, waivers and institutional agreements.

What the examples show

47 of the 142 journals charge authors or sell optional open access, 56 say they charge nothing and 39 are unclear.

Many Kazakh university journals charge a flat fee in tenge, often per article but sometimes per page; Armenian and Georgian journals are mostly free to authors. For Uzbekistan most journal pages say nothing about fees, so those rows are unclear and not free.
