AOSIS — publication fee waivers
AOSIS does not run one policy across its journals: several titles, such as the South African Journal of Economic and Management Sciences, state outright that “this journal does not offer waivers or discounts” — and that requesting one voids the acceptance decision. Others, such as the South African Journal of Industrial Psychology, allow an exceptional-circumstances full waiver on request, with institutional letters required.

The policy in full
| Classification used | No standard classification — decided per journal; most AOSIS journals publish no waiver policy at all |
|---|---|
| Full waiver | Varies by journal: several titles explicitly offer no waiver or discount; others allow an exceptional-circumstances full waiver on request |
| Partial discount | Not offered on the journals checked |
| Which author counts | Not applicable on no-waiver titles; corresponding author with institutional backing on titles allowing exceptional-circumstances requests |
| Hybrid journals | Not stated |
| How it is applied | No waiver on most titles; where allowed, request required before acceptance with institutional confirmation letters |
| When | Before formal post-review acceptance; requesting a waiver on a no-waiver title can void the acceptance decision |
| Scope | AOSIS-hosted South African journals (checked: SAJEMS, SAJIP; policy explicitly varies per title) |
Country list
This publisher states the rule but does not publish a single consolidated country list we could verify. We record the rule and link to the source rather than infer which countries it covers. If you know of a published list, tell us.
