Help choosing a journal — and paying less for it
Send the details below and an editor checks them by hand against the same verified data the site is built on. You get a short reply by email within three working days. This is a free pilot: we are testing whether this help is useful before deciding anything else.
Data last checked: 14 October 2026
What you get
- 3–5 journals in your field and within your budget, each with its list APC and the date we checked it on the publisher’s page.
- Whether you qualify for a waiver or discount, how it is applied (automatically or on request at submission), and which author has to be corresponding for it to count.
- Free routes, if there are any: no-fee (diamond) journals in your field, and the subscription route in hybrid journals.
Before you submit
- A pre-submission check: who should be the corresponding author, whether the waiver has to be requested, and whether the journal is hybrid. One mistake here often costs $1,000 or more. See the one-page checklist.
What we do not do
- We do not guarantee acceptance, and we do not contact journals for you.
- We do not submit, edit, translate or write anything.
- This check is free. Journals and publishers cannot pay to be recommended; see Funding and independence.
- Do not send your manuscript. We only need the details in the form.
JournalFees is not a journal and does not accept manuscripts. To publish, submit to one of the journals listed on this site through that journal's own website.
