Country-tiered pricing sets a different list price by the corresponding author's location instead of applying a discount to a single global price. Springer Nature runs such a pilot, and on participating journals it supersedes the waiver and discount scheme for low- and lower-middle-income corresponding authors. Elsevier runs a similar pilot across 143 fully open access journals, and Wiley prices 33 Latin American countries on purchasing power.
