List price vs what was actually paid
The publisher's list price is what you are quoted. The median paid figure is what institutions actually reported paying — often lower, because agreements and waivers apply. 410 journals where we have both.
Two numbers, two currencies, not converted. List is the publisher's quote in its own currency; paid is the median in euros (including VAT) from real invoices reported to OpenAPC, with the sample size. Read the gap directionally — a much lower paid figure means agreements and waivers are doing real work.
